Anan Natsume

Anan Natsume is a 15-year-old shut-in girl and one of the prisoners in Mahou Shoujo no Majo Saiban. She is reserved and has considerable difficulty communicating with others. Anan rarely speaks aloud, instead communicating by writing in a sketchbook that she carries with her. When writing, she refers to herself as "wagahai" and uses an exaggerated, literary manner of speech.

She enjoys playing video games and dislikes putting unnecessary effort into things, preferring not to push herself too hard. She has an unusually low threshold for praising herself, considering even small everyday accomplishments worthy of recognition. Despite her immature and sometimes difficult behavior, Anan is fundamentally good-natured and reluctant to hurt other people. She dreams of becoming a writer, although she has never managed to finish one of her stories.

Magic

Anan possesses a form of mind-control magic. Normally, if she can make someone accept or agree with an instruction, she can temporarily compel that person to obey it. After becoming a witch, this restriction is removed, allowing her to temporarily control others without first convincing them.

Her fear of affecting others with this ability is also the reason she avoids speaking and primarily communicates through writing.

Past

When Anan was very young, she unknowingly used her magic on her parents through the innocent requests she made of them. As her wishes continued to be fulfilled, her parents gradually lost their own agency and eventually became little more than puppets under the influence of her power.

After realizing what she had done, Anan became deeply afraid of hurting anyone else and withdrew from society. She continued living as a shut-in with her parents, carrying intense guilt over what had happened and becoming fearful of seeking happiness for herself.
